Some really good discussion threads on Dan's Bluesky https://bsky.app/profile/danabra.mov/post/3l7d5ea4prk2m https://bsky.app/profile/danabra.mov/post/3l7dgr6vpjz24

While "VC gonna VC", the locked open nature of the protocol and ecosystem provides many mitigations from anything super bad happening.

I really thought this post was going to go down the monadic route where all resource allocation is expressed in types. Has such a thing been explored in Rust? On the surface it feels like the type system is powerful enough to express it

Yeah, this is an unfortunate side effect of atproto not using a json-ld like thing. In ActivityPub everything extends from a base type that can show up in a feed, no such "extension" (or dare I say, trait) system exists in atproto lexicons right now.

I'd be interested in hearing any thoughts about whether this is simply a fun cool novelty project or if atproto is actually a decent architecture to build an instant messaging app on top of.

It provides some interesting new features to the bluesky UI but there are privacy concerns https://bsky.app/profile/mary.my.id/post/3l3k6wmadysx3 Approach with caution.

Very cool! Quite hard to decipher how to use this but I imagine it involves routing all /.well-known/atproto-did requests across all subdomains?
